Flights!

Thats it, I'm all SET!

Confirmation came through yesterday that my flights have all been booked and i'll be arriving in Kansas City on the evening of the 14th Jan. I've also received the itinerary for the first few weeks of the program and my pre trip assignments. Normally i'm adverse to being given extra pieces of work to do on top of the usual load but these will be a pleasure to write.

I've to prepare two short presentations, one on a piece of inspirational reading, talks or literature and another on a piece of technology which I believe to be a 'game changer'.

After a little thought I've decided to talk on a book named "Influence - Science and Practise" by Robert B. Cialdini. It's a fairly widely used psychology text book covering the science of the ways in which humans interact with each other and how we are influenced in the decisions we make on a daily basis.

In the last year or two I have become very interested in human social and influential psychology. As a business person, giving the right impression or using human nature to give you competitive advantage is in my opinion invaluable.

In the tech talk I will discuss the future application of voice controlled technology similar to Siri used in the latest iPhone 4S. I think, while it still has some way to go yet before it is truly practical, it has great future potential in productivity and heralds a new era in man-machine interaction.
