Speaker: Nic Gwynn, Account Executive at Hayes Parsons Insurance

This event is aimed at members of SETsquared looking for a basic overview and introduction to insurance and those looking to gain a deeper understanding of their own insurance and risk management requirements.

The workshop will be hosted by Nic Gwynn, Account Executive at Hayes Parsons Insurance, along with an underwriter (tbc) from one of their panel insurers who will be there to give technical advice on claims and policy wordings.

The event will be split into three parts over a three hour period.

Part 1 – Introduction to insurance (1 hour)

Part one will start with a talk from Nic covering the following topics:

  • What is insurance and how does it work?
  • Legal requirements
  • Other essential requirements
  • Specific insurance issues for technology companies

This section will last approximately 45 minutes and would be followed by a 15 minute Q&A session on the issues raised.

Part 2 – Risk management & claims workshops (1 hour)

The group will be split in half.  There will be two simultaneous work shops on risk management and claims.  Nic will facilitate the risk management workshop whilst the underwriter will facilitate the claims workshop.  These workshops will be interactive with the facilitators using real life examples and allowing the smaller groups to discuss the issues in more detail.

Each workshop will run for 30 minutes allowing the groups to take part in both workshops.

Part 3 – 1-2-1 sessions (1 hour)

This section is comprised of pre-booked 1-2-1 sessions (each lasting 10-20 minutes) with either Nic or the underwriter.  These will be ideal for anyone who has a particular insurance, risk management or claims query or is looking for some general advice regarding their own business.  If demand for this is high, additional sessions can be booked with Nic at a later date.
