Transforming Construction

Campaign: Building towards safer, healthier & more efficient construction

Applications now closed

SETsquared’s Scale-Up Programme, alongside the National Composite Centre (NCC) and BDO will invest £50,000 to cover the costs of R&D project proposal development for the Transforming Construction Industrial Challenge Fund

Globally, whilst there are signs of disruption, the construction sector has not advanced in its productivity at the same rate as other sectors. This has led to a sizeable productivity gap that is estimated at £15bn for the UK.

Government is now looking to industry and researchers to innovate in construction, increase productivity and open up significant global markets for efficient buildings.

Our Transforming Construction campaign aims to secure R&D, business and funding opportunities for UK scale-up companies and academic researchers in this space.

We therefore invite companies, researchers (from the universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey), and consortia, comprised of companies and researchers, to apply for funding of up to £15k per project to help develop collaborative R&D proposals for Transforming Construction challenges. These include:

Transforming Construction Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund:

  • The Modern Methods of Construction, Digital and Whole-Life Performance Collaborative R&D Programme
  • The Demonstrator Programme

Each £15k funding award can be used for bid writing, consortia, partnership development and project management. Read our guide on how the funds can be used
