Monika Gierszewska - SETsquared BristolMonika Radclyffe is responsible for The Bristol SETsquared Business Acceleration Centre, where she manages the Centre’s strategy and delivery of incubation activity to the 65+ high-tech ventures. 

Monika's career includes setting up a student incubator at the University of Westminster, running an entrepreneurial community of 6,000 members, setting up two co-working spaces and a digital acceleration programme at Dreamstake, facilitating open innovation programmes between corporates, academics and startups and global innovation events at Fortune 500 firm, Cognizant, and leading delivery on fintech innovation programmes at ENTIQ.

Karen Drake

Karen Drake was Business and Finance manager at Spike Island, Bristol from 2009 – 2013 which included management of the Spike Design incubator. She has been a sole trader in a retail business and an executive director of a catalogue and internet mail order company. Karen is currently completing an MSc in Civil Society Management and is holder of a CIPFA (Affiliate) award in Charity Finance.

Karen is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the SETsquared Business Acceleration Centre in Bristol. She manages building maintenance and security, and is line manager to the accounts, administration and reception team.

Paul Forster

Paul Forster is Community Manager at SETsquared Bristol, where he builds relationships, connects and solves problems within the SETsquared community, and works with the wider Bristol and South West ecosystem to form collaborative and mutually beneficial partnerships. He project manages partnerships with corporate and innovative partners and is focused on and committed to spearheading diversity. Previously Programme Manager at TechHub London, where he grew their startup programme from the ground up and is currently co-Director of For Books' Sake, a social enterprise that champions women's writing through live events, workshops, publishing and more.

Rhian Jarman

Rhian JarmanRhian is the Senior Administration Assistant for the Bristol SETsquared Centre and Engine Shed.  Her duties include co-ordinating SETsquared events including the annual SETsquared Bristol Innovation Showcase, regular themed networking events for members, mentors and associates, venture business review panels, workshops and master-classes. Other duties include centre marketing, memberships administration, coordinating the Engine Shed travel plan and its associated green travel initiative events, and assisting with Engine Shed events and hires.

Rhian has a Masters in fine art from the University of the West of England and is a ceramicist in her spare time.  She has worked within arts administration, community arts, education, and as a City Council administrator.

Greville Commins

Greville combines his high tech background, start-up experience, funding, international business development with a 15 year mentoring track record to help entrepreneurs accelerate their businesses.

Originally studying electronics Greville formed his own start-up company designing bespoke production line test systems in 1982 culminating in an exit after 3 years.

His high tech marketing career began in 1985 with 5 years in Intel Systems Product Marketing.

Joining STMicroelectronics in 1990 he marketed silicon and software globally, spent 5 years as US Operations Director in Silicon Valley gaining US, Europe and Asian business experience. In 2001 was appointed ST Marketing Director sourcing IP and technology for future products.

An early stage business mentor since 2001 he founded Varoom Ltd in 2007, to help accelerate early stage technology enterprises. Also in 2007 he became Entrepreneur in Residence in the SETsquared high tech business acceleration centre in Bristol, teaches enterprise courses in University of Bristol and delivers Enterprise skills workshops around the country.

Greville has a strong technical background, a broad range of marketing and business development skills coupled with an international experience base and over 20 years as a Director in technology businesses and helped develop businesses up to $125M. Currently holding several Non-Executive Chair roles in growing companies in the Bristol region.

Rick Chapman

Rick Chapman has over 30 years of experience working in high tech industries, predominantly Semiconductors and Software. After 5 years with Marconi, Rick joined STMicroelectronics in 1990. Over nearly 12 years, he held a variety of international positions, including R&D Director - Semicustom and Business Development Director – Microprocessors.

Since 2001, Rick has worked with several start-ups. He was a founding executive of SuperH Inc., an intellectual property licensing company and, as VP of Business Development, he delivered revenue growth from zero to $7m in two years. After a spell as CTO of Cobault Ltd, a CRM software company, he joined Spiral Gateway Ltd, a semiconductor start-up designing an innovative microprocessor architecture. As CTO of Reveal2me Ltd, he helped bring a disruptive content delivery platform for smart phones to market. 

He is currently Chairman of NuNano Ltd, an Entrepreneur-in-Residence in SETsquared Bristol and works with other organisations in Bristol & Bath supporting the high tech cluster, including his role as High Tech Sector Specialist for Invest Bristol & Bath.

Pete Keevill

Pete is one of our Entrepreneurs in Residence specialising in companies supported by the UK IOT Boost programme. He has an MEng from University of Bath and has a long career in R&D Management primarily in the Mobile Telecomm industry and has worked in global companies and small startups. In 2004 he co-founded small cell startup Ubiquisys and served as VP Engineering until the company was acquired by Cisco in 2013 for $310M. Pete left Cisco in 2015 and now spends his time mentoring and supporting other entrepreneurs on their startup journeys. In 2017 Pete was recognised by SETSquared as one of the Top 50 UK entrepreneurs of the past 15 years.

Yasmin Popat

Yasmin Popat is a Member of Association of Accounting Technicians.  Her qualifications include Diploma in Payroll Administration and Banking Diploma.
 
Yasmin works for SETsquared as a part time Finance Assistant and her role includes providing customer services & support, cash management, preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns, Assisting in the production of monthly Management Accounts, Cashflow and completing the monthly/annual statistics surveys and supporting the SETsquared and Engine Shed team in the smooth running of the centre.
 
Research
 
Previous to her work at SETsquared she worked for 13 years at United Housing Association (a Social Housing Landlord) as Finance Officer managing a member of the Finance Team.  Her skills included  preparing monthly management accounts, annual budgets, payroll, processing and monitoring of service charges, VAT returns, producing Statutory Year end accounts and liaising effectively with both internal and external auditors.  Yasmin also provided accurate financial information and prepared KPI's to colleagues and Senior Management team enabling them to identify areas for improvement.
