WORLD LEADING BUSINESS SUPPORT

INSIGHTS /

Basingstoke company one of only a handful in the world selected for prestigious programme

A Basingstoke business has beat off stiff competition from thousands of companies across the world to be named a Websummit ‘Alpha Start-Up’.

Razorsecure, which is a member of SETsquared at its hub in Basing View, has been selected to take a coveted place on the programme, which gives start-ups access to one of the biggest technology events in the world.

Websummit is one of the world’s most famous technology summits. Some of the biggest names in technology are involved in the event, including the likes of Google, Apple, IBM, Amazon and Twitter. Every year the event organisers pick a handful start ups from across the world to be a part of its Alpha Start-Up programme, which gives them a chance to exhibit at the event for free, as well as a wealth of other benefits.

Alex Cowan, CEO, said: “We were absolutely over the moon when we found out we’d been selected. Only a few start ups from across the entire world are picked for the programme so to be among them is a huge honour.

“It will make a real difference to our business, allowing us to look for development partners and potential future investors in an environment that brings together some of the biggest names in the business.”

Razorsecure is a cyber security company. Earlier this year it attended SETsquared’s entrepreneurship programme at its hub in Basing View and impressed organisers so much that they invited the company to become a member of the business incubation programme. Since then it has had support from SETsquared to help it grow and has been involved in the company’s innovation showcase in London.

Adrian Braine, entrepreneur in residence at SETsquared’s hub in Basing View, said: “The success that Razorsecure has had in such a short amount of time is evidence of just how promising a start up it is. I have no doubt that with its drive and determination, it will come back from Websummit armed with a wealth of new opportunities.”

Razorsecure will exhibit at Websummit in Dublin from November 3 to 5. To find out more about the event visit websummit.net
