Another month means another award for Bath centre member EZ Education, which has just scooped the Best Mobile App award at The SPAKies 2016.

EZ Education’s app, Doodlemaths, provides an individual Maths work program for students, which supplements and enhances their usual Maths provision.

The SPARKies Tech Awards is an annual event, which celebrates the best technology innovation in the West of England.

In the Best Mobile App award category, apps are judged on the way the app looks and operates; its stability, speed, content and its functionality.

The judges said of Doodlemaths: “We love this app because of its fun interface which is easy-to-use and intuitive for the target audience – a great concept!”

Bath company Ordable was also nominated in the Best Mobile App category for their app which enables users to order and pay in advance for their coffee and Bath entrepreneur in residence Rosie Bennett was shortlisted for Best Mentor.

At another event, the Bath Digital Festival, Emma Smith CEO of Bath SETsquared company Memberoo, was invited to speak about her experiences of starting a tech company.

Memberoo is a customer engagement platform for businesses and community organisations; providing a loyalty app, email system, event organisation, online surveys and marketing automation for SME’s with a ‘real world’ presence.

Talking about the vibrant and ever growing tech scene in Bath and the surrounding region, including SETsquared, Emma also mentioned some of the challenges about funding and investment for tech startups in the South West.
