Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing Funding Briefing

Find out how SETsquared can support your business to bid for upcoming funding calls in the Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing sector

Innovate UK, Advanced Propulsion Centre, Department for Transport and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy have announced major funding calls this autumn. Through our Scale-Up Programme, we can provide a comprehensive package of support to help businesses successfully bid for funding. Support can include matching you with an academic partner from our six university partners to collaboratively bid for funding, critical friend review of your bid and professional bid writing. Bids supported by the Scale-Up Programme have a 35% success rate.

On this briefing call, we will look at forthcoming funding streams from the funders listed below and the support that you can access through SETsquared:

  • Innovate UK 
  • Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS)
  • Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC)
  • Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI)
  • Department for Transport (DfT)
  • Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) 

We will also cover other exciting opportunities, such as coming along to the Advanced Engineering event on 2 & 3 November at the NEC, Birmingham.

Colin provides the strategic direction for the SETsquared Scale-Up Programme, a business acceleration programme that links the research talent and expertise of the six partner universities with innovative technology companies to secure public grants and private investment for business-led R&D and innovation growth. He is an experienced knowledge exchange practitioner with a professional background in climate change, sustainable innovation, and business sustainability. 

 

Dr Yuchen Gu, Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing Sector Lead, SETsquared

Yuchen oversees the industry-academia liaison, R&D project consortia-building, and bid development support to the Scale-Up Programme member companies. He has a technical background in advanced materials and manufacturing and has over 10 years’ experience in supporting industry-focused research. He is dedicated to helping innovators with their R&D road mapping and business acceleration via fundraising in both the public and private sectors. 

 

Lydia Green, Scale-Up Membership ManagerLydia Green, Membership Manager, SETsquared

Lydia supports the companies on the Scale-Up programme to access the support they need to grow. This includes sourcing exclusive member opportunities and working with partners to run tailored events for our companies. She has oversight of all member activity and showcases successes through the creation of marketing content. Lydia has developed her skills working in impact-driven organisations and supporting communities of people and their ideas.
