Through our Scale-Up Programme, we can provide a comprehensive package of support to help businesses successfully bid for funding. Support can include matching you with an academic partner from our six university partners to collaboratively bid for funding, critical friend review of your bid and professional bid writing. Bids supported by the Scale-Up Programme have a 35% success rate.

Biography:

Event MC – Lydia Green, Membership Manager

Lydia supports the companies on the Scale-Up programme to access the support they need to grow. This includes sourcing exclusive member opportunities and working with partners to run tailored events for our companies. She has oversight of all member activity and showcases successes through the creation of marketing content. Lydia has developed her skills working in impact driven organisations and supporting communities of people and their ideas.

 

Event host – Chris Pett, Digital Innovation Sector Lead

Chris Pett works with companies in the Digital Innovation portfolio at the Scale Up Programme. His focus is deep technology companies developing innovative products in data, next-generation networks, internet of things, artificial intelligence and advanced computing. He is also experienced in working with startups in creative industries, drawing on research from the humanities, arts and social sciences. Chris has supported hundreds of tech business founders to grow their companies from concept to scale.

 

Peter Wilkins, Innovation Partner at South East Defence and Security Accelerator

After a degree in Aeromechanical Systems Engineering, Peter completed a PhD in the aerodynamics of insect flight. He joined Dstl to conduct modelling relating to time-sensitive targeting. He was seconded to MOD’s Operations Directorate to conduct counter-IED analysis during the closing days of Op HERRICK (Afghanistan) and more recently spent 18 months at the Maritime Warfare Centre working on issues related to the introduction of the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers. Since 2019, Peter has been a regional Innovation Partner for the Defence and Security Accelerator, working across the UK’s South East to support DASA’s mission of finding and funding exploitable innovation to support UK defence and security quickly and effectively.
