Fashion innovators pitch new tech to global names

Innovators creating the latest ground-breaking technology for the fashion industry will pitch to fashion brands and investors on 8 November both online and at the W hotel in London.

The fashion-tech start-ups have been specially selected by SETsquared, the global number one university business incubator, and the enterprise partnership between the universities of Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey and by London College of Fashion.

The FashTech innovation showcase has been created to give up-and-coming entrepreneurs the chance to find investment, support, or partnership, as well as make connections with key players in the business and fashion world.

The following companies will pitch for five minutes each:

  • BECOCO – is building a virtual fashion styling platform to help retailers offer true personalisation to their consumers.
  • Infi-tex – has created smart textile pressure sensors, which enable electronic interaction and data collection via soft buttons that can be integrated into clothing. Jeremy Mutebi – has developed a platform that allows men to shop outfits based on the latest trends, and create collections based on collaborations with style bloggers and brands.
  • Metapixel – is creating the world’s largest library of 3D scans of people, objects and environments to sell on our ecommerce store, we aim to be the ‘Getty Images’ of the 3D world.
  • SKMMP – is a fashion supply chain platform for ready to wear Designers. The physical and online digital showroom significantly reduces cost and risk associated with B2B wholesale allowing designers and buyers to do business remotely.
  • Stealthy – is the first smart well-being jewellery brand which actively facilitates a happier and healthier life. Using innovative design the jewellery brings mindfulness to wearers helping them avoid depression and other associated illnesses caused by hypovitaminosis/vitamin D deficiency.

Simon Bond, innovation director at SETsquared, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to innovative fashion-tech entrepreneurs. It can often be challenging to make connections with the big names in industry, so we’re pleased SETsquared is able to bring together global leaders in fashion, innovation and technology – as well as investors.”

In addition to pitching to huge brand names, the entrepreneurs have had access to ‘Today at Apple’ sessions to further hone their investment proposition and develop their technology, as well as access to London College of Fashion and SETsquared’s networks and support.

SETsquared previously held a fashion-tech hackathon in partnership with London College of Fashion. The event saw creatives, fashion designers, technologists, students and entrepreneurs come together to fuse skills and create the cross-disciplinary expertise needed to mix technology and fashion.

Matthew Drinkwater, head of the Fashion Innovation Agency, said: “The digital revolution is beginning to force huge change within an industry that is ripe for disruption. Work at the crossroads of fashion, retail and technology is leading to new business models and products that will revolutionise our clothes and how we shop for them in the future.”

Following the pitches each entrepreneur will showcase their products at a tech demo party to investors and fashion brands at the W Hotel in Soho.
