New appointment to grow SETsquared’s Basingstoke start-up hub

A new face has been appointed to take the helm at SETsquared’s Basing View hub in Basingstoke.

Adrian Braine, who has taken up the role of entrepreneur in residence at SETsquared’s newest hub, will support the company’s activity in Basingstoke and help to turn the Basing View hub into a vibrant tech community.

The appointment follows the news that the first three businesses, RazorSecure, Xscalo and Spry Fox Networks, have joined Basing View, with a new SETsquared member, Evergreen, signed up by Adrian in his first weeks.

Prior to joining SETsquared as an entrepreneur in residence, Adrian was involved as a mentor for start-ups.

Adrian said: “I have a long history with start-ups and SMEs in the electronics, software and semiconductor industries where I have held director-level business management, marketing and product development roles, so I feel well equipped to cover all areas of SETsquared’s fantastic offerings.

“My first impressions of working within the Basing View hub have been very positive. There’s a lot to do and it’s great that Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is so motivated to redeveloping this area of the town to turn it into a tech centre. We’re working with some exciting companies at the hub and I can’t wait to add more.”

Simon Bond, innovation director at SETsquared, said: “We’re delighted Adrian has joined us at the Basing View hub. Just as his mentoring has been invaluable to our start-ups, his wealth of experience and motivation makes him the perfect fit for SETsquared.”

Adrian’s first months in the role will see him working on SETsquared’s Next Tech Wave event on 2 July, where experts will show start-ups and entrepreneurs the business opportunities in big data, and the entrepreneurship training programme in September, where entrepreneurs will learn key skills for taking an innovation to market, including building a business model, market analysis and funding strategies.

Register a place for the Next Tech Wave event on 2nd July
