About the Showcase

Our Accelerating Growth Investment Showcase offers technology start-ups an unrivalled opportunity to raise investment to take your business to the next level.

For the past 15 years, SETsquared has staged this highly successful investment event, annual investment showcase, helping companies raise over £100m investment. Our audience is made up of over 150 delegates who are predominantly active investors in early-stage, high technology ventures e.g. business angels, specialist venture capitalists, high net-worth individuals and corporate innovation teams. There are also usually a small number of government funding specialists in attendance.

The showcase is the culmination of a 3-month investment programme, which will help you to hone your company’s pitch and provide significant promotion within the investor, corporate and media community.

Participation in this event is free of charge.

Why apply for a place at the Accelerating Growth Investment Showcase

Whether your start-up is seeking Seed, Series A or B investment, this programme will put you on the path to investment success.

The Showcase will give you the opportunity to access:

  • a significant number of active specialist technology investors who shape commercial opinion and actively invest from £250k up to £5m in technology ventures
  • a marketing opportunity to a database of over 1,300 investors as all invitees get a copy of the company summaries
  • a platform at a high-profile event in London, attended by a range of investors, commercial technology experts, large technology corporates and senior Government officials
  • a programme of support to further hone each investment proposition

Selected companies get thousands of pounds worth of support for free with no equity or fees charged.

Step by step guide to the selection process

  1. Once we validate applications, you will be invited to attend an online pitching session. A maximum of 45 companies will pitch online (if applications exceed this number, applicants will be selected on a first to apply basis). At the online selection session, you will give a 5-minute pitch to a panel of external investors and experienced entrepreneurs. A 10-minute Q&A + feedback from the panellists will follow each pitch. The aim is to select 24-27 companies to go to the next phase of the programme.
  2. Selected companies will be invited to pitch live in 3 different locations in front of an audience of local investors and experienced entrepreneurs who will provide feedback. At the end of these sessions, 18-20 companies will be selected to pitch at the London showcase.
  3. Selected companies will be given further support to hone their pitch ready for the showcase via their local incubators and the will attend an online pitch refinement session delivered by a trainer.

Who should apply?

Applicants are eligible if they are members of one of our SETsquared Universities (Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey), Incubators or a spinout from one of our Universities.

You should be able to demonstrate rigorous market validation, a strong and viable business model and the potential for continued growth and development.

  • Online Panel Selection Process

    The panel selection process will take place online via Zoom, a video conferencing and web conferencing tool. Along with the submission of your executive summary, you will be required to give a 5 minute pitch online to a panel of 3 - 5 people. After your pitch the panel will ask questions and provide feedback on your business proposition and pitch. The panel will select up to 24 - 27 companies to participate in the pitch practice sessions, the final part of the selection process - see dates below which you must give your availability for. Details of the panel will be published nearer the time.

  • Your uploaded executive summary will be the one used for the panel selection process. The length should not exceed a single sided A4 page. If you are unsure, please read our guidance on creating an executive summary within the event outline.
  • Presenter details

    Please note: the person presenting in front of the online panel HAS TO COMMIT to also present at the local pitch practice events and the actual investment event on 4th December if selected.
  • Pitch Practice Session

    If selected through the online panel selection, you will be required to attend one of the pitch practice sessions which will take place in 3 locations: Bath, Exeter and Surrey. Please select all the dates you are available for. You must select at least one of the dates as this is a compulsory part of the selection process. We will try to allocate your preferred date based on availability but please note this is not guaranteed.
