Healthy Ageing

Campaign #1: Helping people remain independent, productive, active
and socially connected for longer

As part of the UK’s Industrial Strategy, up to £98m will be invested in research and innovation that enables people remain independent, productive, active and socially connected for longer.

The number of people over 75 in the UK today is one in 12. By 2040, it will rise to one in 7. We’re also living for longer and a third of children born now are expected to live to 100. This presents a challenge to health services, but it is also an opportunity for businesses and researchers who can help people to stay active and productive as they age.

In recognition of this opportunity, we invite companies and researchers (from the universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey) to apply for a fully-funded place at a collaboration workshop event which will take place at the NHS Health and Care Innovation Expo on 4 & 5 September in Manchester.

Bringing together researchers, NHS organisations and ambitious SMEs, these workshops will stimulate ideas and collaborations. You’ll have the opportunity to network and make connections with potential partners who are also working on technologies, products and solutions to help people live independently for longer in their own homes.

Following the collaboration workshops, SETsquared’s Scale-Up Programme will invest £200k+ into R&D project proposal development for Innovate UK Healthy Ageing funding calls which are due to open later this year plus other opportunities. These project proposal funds can be used to build consortia, access grant writing or project management support, conference attendance plus other measures which will enable you to build powerful R&D bids.

The Scale-Up Programme is a partnership between:
