The Washing Machine Project has the vision to create a world-leading organisation, which brings together innovation, research, and development to solve some of the world’s most pressing humanitarian and development challenges.

Empowering women to take control over their lives by offering them an alternative to handwashing clothes. The Divya 1.5 is a manual, off-the-grid, crank-handle washing machine that alleviates the burden of handwashing clothes and saves up to 75% of the time and 50% of the water compared to handwashing clothes.

  • Partnering with Care International and Plan International to carry out pilot projects in refugee camps in Iraq and Jordan, respectively
  • Winner at Santander X Entrepreneurship Award, Elektra Awards, MSDUK and Nichols Awards
  • Featured on World Economic Forum, The Russell Howard Hour, ITV, BBC, NowThis, 60 Second Docs, and in a report by the All-Party Parliament Group of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
