SETsquared companies score hat trick of awards

A duo of SETsquared businesses have scored a hat trick of award nominations this month.

iGeolise has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards from Innovate UK, one for Innovation Leading to Business Transformation and one for ‘Inspirational Innovation’. The shortlistings come after the company has achieved huge growth by researching and commercialising space technology.

iGeolise has created a software platform called Travel Time, which enables users to search for online content by how much time a journey takes rather than its distance away. It is licensing this technology to websites and despite only being formed in 2009 iGeolise already counts some of the UK’s biggest estate agents and local search engines among its clients.

Founders Peter Lilley and Charlie Davies will find out if they have won at an award ceremony at the House of Commons on October 13.

Fellow SETsquared member, Nquiring Minds has also been shortlisted at the awards in the category of Innovation Leading to Productivity Improvement. The company builds products that make cities better at capturing, securing and using data.

Dr Nick Allott, founder and CEO of Nquiring Minds, said: “We want to be a British tech company that is making a real difference to people’s lives. We are developing IOT and Smart Cities technologies using software and hardware that help a city capture, secure, and put data to work, so that they run smarter. We have a secure internet of things platform called the Open City Data Platform. This stretches from sensor data all the way up to high level data analytics which give real strategic insight.”

Simon Bond, SETsquared Innovation Director, said: “These latest award nominations go to show the success businesses within the SETsquared programme are achieving. Both have identified technologies which can be adapted to achieve not just commercial success but a real difference to people’s lives. We are incredibly proud that they have been recognised by Innovate UK and we will be rooting for both of them.”
