WORLD LEADING BUSINESS SUPPORT
Technology start-ups are set to get help expanding internationally thanks to a new partnership between SETsquared and UKTI (UK Trade and Investment).
SETsquared, the business incubation programme run by the universities of Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey, has sealed a deal which tailors UKTI services to the special requirements of pre or early revenue businesses with high potential for growth.
Technology start-ups will be able to access the services via regular drop-in clinics at its centres where SETsquared members will receive one-to-one advice sessions from UKTI international trade advisors and specific support services tailored to their needs on matters such as exporting, international business laws and raising funding internationally.
SETsquared’s partnership with UKTI is set to benefit hundreds of businesses, with around 250 companies currently members of SETsquared.
SETsquared’s Sarah De’Lacy said: “There are huge opportunities for UK companies, particularly those in the technology sector, to spread their wings overseas and this latest partnership will give local businesses the information and help they need to make the leap.
“For small start-ups, the prospect of winning in international markets can be a daunting but the success of our companies that have expanded overseas is proof of the rewards it can bring.”
UKTI’s Rob Lewtas from UKTI confirmed: “SETsquared’s incubation programme offers a large pool of high-quality companies with fantastic potential, that we look forward to introducing to new overseas markets. We have previously worked with thousands of client companies who have gone on to identify and secure new contracts in new markets and have transformed their business as a result. It’s our job to help them make informed decisions and to de-risk business opportunities by working with our experienced team of International Trade Advisors here in the UK and through our teams in over 100 overseas countries.”
As well as the one-to-one clinics the new partnership will give SETsquared businesses access to wider UKTI events and programmes in the UK and overseas.
