ICURe Engage: Guidance for Applicants

This NEW ICURe ENGAGE Programme is a first-taster programme for research students/technicians to explore entrepreneurship.

 

How does it work?

The research student/technician will undertake 6 weeks of activity starting with a 2-day bootcamp followed by ongoing support from SETsquared mentors whilst undertaking conversations with potential beneficiaries of their research.

After an introduction to ideation, design thinking and Strategyzer’s Value Proposition Canvas they will learn how to use this approach to test the value proposition. In addition, they will learn how a venture to deliver impact may be funded and present their learnings by producing a video report.

In just 6 weeks, learn the methods which give the enormous potential to unlock technology from university research and change the world through impact.

What does it include?

• Flexible online delivery
• Training and support from SETsquared mentors and experts
• Support to have at least 10 meaningful conversations over the 6 weeks with potential beneficiaries
• Introduction to Strategyzer Value Proposition Canvas
• Training to complete the production of a video report

Who is eligible?

ICURe Engage is open to Research Students and technicians (all disciplines) from all UK universities and some public sector research establishments (PSREs).

All applicants MUST be able to commit part-time in accordance with the schedule in the Key Dates and Expectations page.

The appropriate Technology Transfer Officer’s (TTO) in your organisation should ideally be aware of/form part of the application, although their attendance is optional.
