Engine Shed is located right next to Bristol Temple Meads railway station which has links to local, national and international transport. We are committed to sustainability, including how we all travel and are keen to encourage all building users, staff and visitors to consider how they plan to travel to us, and travel sustainably wherever possible.
The information below will assist you with your choices, or alternatively, you can use the journey planner or similar mobile apps.

By cycle: There is ample cycle parking at the front of the building, in the forecourt in front of the Cafe on Station Approach. The national cycle network is connected directly to the rear entrance of Temple Meads Station. We have showers and lockers, if you need.

By rail: There are two main stations in Bristol - Temple Meads and Parkway. We are located minutes, nay, seconds, from the front entrance to Temple Meads so that's the easy option - and there are regular train connections from Bristol Parkway.

From Bristol Temple Meads station (by foot): Exit via the main entrance - where the taxi rank is - and take the pavement to your right. Continue walking to the main road, turn right and then turn right again, through the archway. Our entrance is shared with the Coop Nursery, on the far right of the building.

From the university. Take the No.8 or No.9 bus from Elton Road, by Senate House, or the No.1 bus from Parkway. These take you to Temple Meads station.

From Bristol Parkway station: You are recommended to get a train connection to Temple Meads.

By coach: The coach station is on Marlborough Street. There are regular bus connections to Temple Meads station - or it's a 10 minute walk.  There is also a taxi-rank outside the station. For information about coaches, consult the National Express web pages.

By car: We strongly recommend that you use public transport, your feet or two wheels, but if you need to come by car, there are two visitor parking spaces in Clock Tower Yard, as well as paid-for parking (via RingGo). There are numerous other car parks within very easy walking distance.

Directions from M32: Carry straight on from the end of the M32 bearing left at Cabot Circus (following signs to Bristol Temple Meads). You soon come to a roundabout where you you should take the underpass and follow through to the next roundabout, taking the 2nd exit. Immediately after that roundabout and just before the left turn that is Station Approach, you will see the 1840's facade of Engine Shed. Turn left through the archway, off the main road, Temple Way (A4), and park in the marked visitor space if one is available. If not, park in one of the public spaces and pay the appropriate fee.

By motorcycle: There is motorcycle parking (uncovered) in the short term car park in the central station forecourt, on Station Approach. There is covered motorcycle parking at the end of the Digby-Wyatt shed: ride up Station Approach and take the left, through the archway which has "Passenger Shed" written above it. Through the arch, turn right then left out of the shed. Turn right immediately and then, taking care for pedestrians, turn right into the other end of the shed.

By air (from Bristol Airport): The airport is about eight miles to the south of Bristol centre.  There is a frequent bus service from the airport to Temple Meads station, or take a taxi. For further  information, contact the airport on +44 (0)871 334 4444.

By air (from London Heathrow): There is a direct National Express Coach Service between Heathrow and Bristol. Alternatively you can take the Heathrow Airport Express to London Paddington and a Great Western train from Paddington to Bristol. There is also a Railair link coach service which runs between Heathrow and Reading. Most Paddington to Bristol trains stop at Reading.
