ImiTec can find, identify and measure radiation and thus make a significant contribution to gaining a better understanding of radiation in the environment

ImiTec Limited is a University of Bristol spin-out Company specialising in the development and manufacture of novel methods for mapping radiation in the environment.

ImiTec’s core capability is its patented Remote Isotopic Analysis System (RIAS) a radiation monitoring system that detects, characterises and maps radiation. Incorporated onto a remotely piloted Unmanned Aerial Vehicles a man-pack variant and a ground based vehicle RIAS is also being developed for other platforms. RIAS consists of sensors (lightweight micro-gamma spectrometer and positioning devices) to collect data, a micro-controller to collect, combine, store and transmit data and bespoke software to interpret data and produce maps showing the location and intensity of the radiation. RIAS is of interest to clients in the nuclear industry, defence, homeland security and exploration sectors who buy it for the significantly improved capability and speed of response it offers over current systems.
