Global Corporate Venturing Symposium logo

If you are a SETsquared member start-up or scale-up, the Investment Showcase offers an unrivalled opportunity to raise investment to take your business to the next level.

This summer, we’ll be hosting it as part of the Global Corporate Venturing (GCV) Symposium, to further widen the pool of investors and corporates that you have the opportunity to meet.

The GCV Symposium is Europe’s leading corporate venturing and innovation event. The Investment Showcase will take place on the first morning of the Symposium and you will be able to stay at the event for the rest of the day free of charge.

On the day, you will have the opportunity to deliver a five-minute investment pitch and meet with investors at your exhibition stand. You can expect an audience of 150+ active investors in early-stage, high-technology ventures eg business angels, specialist venture capitalists and high net-worth individuals as well as corporate venturing teams looking to invest in and partner with innovative start-ups.

The showcase is the culmination of a two-month investment programme, which will help you to hone your company’s pitch and provide significant promotion within the investor community.

Participation in this event is free to SETsquared members.

If you would like to be considered please submit your application below. Applications are assessed against the selection criteria stated on the website and validated by the SETsquared central team and local centres. A maximum of 45 companies will be admitted to the selection process.

Applications closed on 05 April, 09.00.

Why apply for a place on the Investment Showcase

If you’re seeking investment for growth, this programme will put you on the path to investment success.

By sending your application and taking part in the online selection panel, you’ll receive invaluable feedback from expert panellists (including external investors, corporate venturers and experienced entrepreneurs)

Then, if successful, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Get access to a targeted programme of support to further hone each investment proposition.
  • Be promoted across a significant number of networks of active investors who shape commercial opinion and actively invest in technology ventures. SETsquared’s database includes over 1,500 investors and the team at GCV will run separate marketing campaigns to their databases of investors from the corporate venturing ecosystem who are actively seeking to invest or looking for opportunities for strategic synergies and collaboration with innovative start-ups.
  • Participate in the showcase as part of the GCV Symposium, a high-profile event, attended by a range of investors, commercial technology experts and large technology corporates.
  • You will be allocated an exhibition stand (including a poseur table and space for a pullup banner to ensure maximum visibility) and will be able to pitch your investment proposition and meet the investors in the room to further discuss your plans for growth, initiate negotiations and get access to extensive knowledge of sectors’ trends, challenges, and opportunities
  • You’ll be offered an online profile on the SETsquared investment platform, alongside the GCV Symposium event app to further engage with the other delegates before, during and after the event. Additionally, your pitch will be recorded and we’ll share the videos with you so you can use for further promotion.

Selected companies get thousands of pounds worth of support with no equity or fees charged.

Step-by-step guide to the selection process

  1. Once the applications are assessed against the selection criteria and validated, you will be invited to attend the first stage of the selection process, an online pitching selection session. A maximum of 45 companies will pitch online. Due to the volume of the applications we are not able to provide feedback to the applicants that are not invited to the online selection panel.
  2. At the online selection session, you will give a 5-minute pitch to a panel of external investors, corporate venture representatives and experienced entrepreneurs. A 10-minute Q&A + feedback from the panellists will follow each pitch. The aim is to select the final 20 companies to go forward to the second stage:
  3. Companies are notified of the outcome of the online selection panel. If successful, you are required to take part in the entire Investment Programme which is mandatory to part take in the main event in London on 20 June.
  4. This Investment Programme is an opportunity for the selected pitching companies to get further guidance and feedback, fine-tune their proposition to get the investors’ attention, hone their pitching skills, get ready for the deal and raise their investment profile ahead of the showcase in London.

Who should apply?

Applicants are eligible if they are members of one of our SETsquared Business Acceleration Centres in Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey or a member of SETsquared’s Scale-Up Programme.
