About the event

INVEST@20 offers SETsquared member start-ups and scale-ups an unrivalled opportunity to raise investment to take your business to the next level.

This highly successful annual showcase has become the event to attend in the investment calendar and this year is set to be bigger and better than ever as we celebrate SETsquared’s 20th year.

On the day, you will have the opportunity to deliver a five-minute investment pitch and meet with investors at your exhibition stand. You can expect an audience of 200+ active investors in early-stage, high technology ventures e.g. business angels, specialist venture capitalists, high net-worth individuals and corporate innovation teams. There are also usually a small number of government funding specialists in attendance.

The showcase is the culmination of a two-month investment programme, which will help you to hone your company’s pitch and provide significant promotion within the investor community.

The Showcase will give you the opportunity to access:

  • a significant number of active specialist technology investors who shape commercial opinion and actively invest from £250k up to £5m in technology ventures
  • a marketing opportunity to a database of over 1,500 investors
  • exhibition stand at a high-profile event, attended by a range of investors, commercial technology experts, large technology corporates and senior Government officials
  • a programme of support to further hone each investment proposition.

Selected companies get thousands of pounds worth of support with no equity or fees charged.

Step by step guide to the selection process

  1. Once we validate applications, you will be invited to attend the first stage of the selection process, an online pitching session. A maximum of 45 companies will pitch online (if applications exceed this number, applicants will be selected on a first to apply basis). At the online selection session, you will give a 5-minute pitch to a panel of external investors and experienced entrepreneurs. A 10-minute Q&A + feedback from the panellists will follow each pitch. Up to 25 companies will be selected to go forward to the second stage: Investment Programme & Campaign Part A
  2. These 25 selected companies will be promoted to the database of 1,500+ investors as part of the marketing campaign for the event. They will be given further support to hone their pitching skills via their local incubators and they will attend a pitch perfect webinar delivered by a trainer and an in person pitch practice session.
  3. Following the pitch practice sessions, a maximum of 20 companies will be selected to go forward to the final stage: Investment Programme & Campaign Part B including online one-to-one pitch refinement and investment campaign sessions and the @20 INVEST dress rehearsal and showcase in London.

Who should apply?

Applicants are eligible if they are members of one of our SETsquared Business Acceleration Centres in Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey or a member of the SETsquared Scale-Up Programme.

You should be able to demonstrate rigorous market validation, a strong and viable business model and the potential for continued growth and development and the social and environmental impact of their business.
