About the Programme

The Sustainability Masterclasses offer specialist virtual support for organisations looking at ways to become more sustainable.

Funded through the European Regional Development Fund, the support is primarily available for organisations located in Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. If not located in the region, organisations must be interested in exploring collaborative opportunities with researchers from the universities of Bath and Bristol, or SETsqaured Bath or Bristol, to increase commercial activity within the West of England. The Masterclass programme is a series of online, 4-hour-long classes delivered by sustainability experts, offering a convenient alternative for businesses unable to commit to the time-intensive workouts also on offer.

The masterclasses allow you to understand business sustainability from the ground up. Beginning with our Impact Workout exploring the fundamentals of sustainability, the series works up to understanding the role of human resource management to help you achieve the triple bottom line, amongst other key topics.

Masterclass sessions include sustainability goals, business model portfolios, sustainability policy creation, grant funding, and financial innovation.

Who should apply?

We welcome applications from organisations operating in any sector, that is a Registered Limited Company (Ltd), a Community Interest Company (CIC), or a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) located in the UK.

You may already be innovating sustainably and need guidance on scaling up without compromising your sustainability goals. You might not have started out as a green business but you now want to understand ways your business can positively impact the environment, and integrate more sustainable practices within your daily activities.

Applicants don’t need to be currently associated with SETsquared or the University of Bath.

Why join?

As the nation continues its commitment toward the Government’s net zero targets, it’s more important now than ever before that businesses are able to display self-awareness around the subject of sustainability. Consumers are increasingly favouring brands and organisations with a commitment to environmental sustainability. We can support enterprises that strive to have a minimal negative impact or potentially a positive effect on the global or local environment, community, society or economy.

It is free to join and delivered by skilled, knowledgeable facilitators who have a passion for sustainability.

Our masterclasses are a brilliant opportunity to access some of the skills available in our wider workouts, but with the added bonus of now being time-friendly. Comprised of 3, 4-hour-long sessions, you can engage in the programme around your existing working commitments, and then get back to what matters most.

It is a great way to expand your business networks and understand other organisations’ journeys and sustainability challenges.

WHICH MASTERCLASS IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Choose from the insightful online masterclasses and tailor the programme to your business’s individual needs.

Pick three, and, if you are not familiar with sustainability, we recommend you to take the Impact Workout as it gives your organisation the foundations of sustainability in business.
