Meet the speakers and panellists

Professor Michele Barbour, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor for Enterprise and Innovation, University of Bristol

Professor Michele Barbour is the Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor for Enterprise and Innovation at the University of Bristol: a strategic leadership role within the senior academic team working to grow and develop the University’s interactions with business and industry and increase uptake of academic entrepreneurship among staff and PGRs. Michele is also Professor of Biomaterials at the University of Bristol and is the academic founder of Pertinax Pharma – a spin-out company specialising in novel biomaterials for the prevention and treatment of bacterial infection.

Lauren Crawley-Moore, Senior Business Development Manager, UK Primary Markets, London & The South, London Stock Exchange plc

Lauren Crawley-Moore heads regional coverage for London and the South within the Primary Markets team. Lauren is responsible for providing guidance to ambitious private companies and their investors in their initial and on-going assessment of a potential IPO strategy. Lauren is responsible for leading the portfolio in London and the South region across AIM and the Main Market.  Lauren works with key stakeholders, including companies and the corporate advisory, Private Equity and VC communities – including nominated advisers, sponsors, lawyers, and accountants.

David Hourican, Chief Financial Officer, British Business Bank

David is an experienced finance leader having started his career as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse. After spending his early career in business development for Home Retail Group plc he moved into banking holding senior finance roles with Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc in Dublin and Singapore.

Before joining the Bank, David was Chief Operating Officer of the Warburton Group, a private investment group based in Australia.

Iain Butler, Corporate Partner, RWK Goodman

Iain Butler is a corporate partner at RWK Goodman, specialising in M&A, succession, growth and venture / private equity transactions. He has particular experience advising CEOs, founders, entrepreneurs, academics and management teams. Iain is the tech sector lead for the Thames Valley.

Cristina Lisii, Shott Scale Up Accelerator Lead, Royal Academy of Engineering

Cristina is leading the Shott Scale Up Accelerator, from designing the programme, through to connecting deep tech SME leaders to world-class experts and mentors. Her mission is to help scale up leaders to grow world-class engineering and technology companies for the benefit of society.
Prior experience includes setting up a community of over 1,000 startups and spinouts from 17 emerging economies; managing open innovation programmes for corporations like Ford and Mars; and application of human-centred design for the reengineering of public services in Moldova, while working for the United Nations Development Program.
