About the Programme

SpinOutWest was a six-month pilot programme designed to strengthen research commercialisation and increase spin-out activity in health and social care in the South West and beyond.

By sharing best practices and offering training and development, the programme equipped universities, particularly those that are are traditionally less research-intensive, and NHS organisations with the knowledge and skills needed to embed new ways of working and a culture that supports spin-out activity.

Across the partner organisations, the pilot identified the innovations with the greatest potential to transform health and social care, and supported them through the process of commercialisation.

The aim was to build sustainable regional capacity for research commercialisation in health and social care, with the potential to extend into other key sectors in the region.

What’s next?

While SpinOutWest has come to an end, it doesn’t mean that the support for health and social care businesses stops there. There’s still plenty of support available for everyone in our ecosystem.
