About the Workout

Are you based in the UK and developing low-carbon technologies?

Or are you looking for ways to make your business and its products and services more sustainable?

If so, you could benefit from this fully funded specialist business and innovation support to help accelerate your growth.

The Sustainability Workout provides specialist support for organisations looking at ways to become more sustainable. Fast-paced and packed with content and practical exercises, it’s delivered by sustainability, start-up and innovation specialists and is available face-face over 2 days or 3-shorter days online.

Funded through the European Regional Development Fund, the support is available for organisations located in Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. And we are warmly welcoming UK organisations from outside the region.

It will help you scrutinise your existing business model and look at how your organisation could be a kinder, more sustainable, and more effective version of itself.  We’ll share how this can be done without increasing your costs.

Workshop sessions include sustainability goals; business model portfolio; peer-to-peer review; benefits of a circular economy; financial innovation, and speed mentoring.

Meet the Mentors who will help you uncover and address your business’ sustainability challenges.

By being part of the programme, there are also opportunities to join our networking events and masterclass sessions.

This programme is rooted in the Institute for Sustainability (IfS) at the University of Bath and, depending on your business needs, we can facilitate introductions for you to collaborate with experts from the University of Bath to help develop new sustainable technologies, products or services.

Who should apply?

We welcome applications from organisations operating in any sector, that is a registered Limited Company (Ltd), a Community Interest Company (CIC), or a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) located in the regions of Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. And we are warmly welcoming UK organisations from outside the region.

You may already be innovating sustainably and need guidance on scaling up without compromising your sustainability goals, or you might not have started out as a green business but want to understand ways your business can positively impact the environment and how to be more circular.

Applicants don’t need to be associated with SETsquared or the University of Bath.

Why join?

Consumers are increasingly favouring brands and organisations with a commitment to environmental sustainability.  We can support enterprises that strive to have a minimal negative impact or potentially a positive effect on the global or local environment, community, society or economy.

It is free to join and delivered by skilled, knowledgeable facilitators who have a passion for sustainability.

We recommend 2-3 delegates from an organisation attend our workout – some companies utilise the course content as a training platform to keep up to date in this fast-moving area.

It is a great way to expand your business networks and understand other organisations’ journeys and sustainability challenges.

If you have any questions about this programme or want to speak with a member of the team to check if this is the right fit for your business, please email us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

I was expecting two days of workshops around the greennessof our company, and perhaps some input into our future manufacturing and distribution plans. What I got was so much more. The workshop facilitates a safe environment to pick apart your business model and put it back together in a way that benefits people and the planet.”

Sarah Whelan, Chief Operating Officer, Airway Medical

“It provided us with useful headspace to think more strategically about how we move forward with embedding circular and regenerative approaches further into our business model. This is a fast-moving area so checking that we are keeping track of wider developments, as well as hearing about other delegates’ journeys, has been time well spent.”
