SETsquared Bristol is firmly open for business; it’s just moving house. Its programmes, support and community will continue without interruption – only its location is changing.

This move comes as Engine Shed approaches closure in December 2026 and SETsquared Bristol transitions to a new home at the University of Bristol’s Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus (TQEC), where it will be hosted within the Bristol Innovations Zone (BIZ), reflecting a continued commitment to supporting the region’s most ambitious founders within an evolving innovation ecosystem.

Engine Shed has achieved a lot over the past 13 years. It’s been at the heart of the city’s innovation ecosystem, delivering projects such as the Diverse Workforce for the Future, Refugee Entrepreneurship and the Scaleup Enabler. During COVID and thereafter, Engine Shed moved away from wider regional development work focused on growth, inclusion and innovation. It became a coworking and office space provider for the wider innovation community. The development of the University’s new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus (TQEC) is intended to build on the early work done by Engine Shed to support digital, business and social innovation.

The team behind Engine Shed will continue this next phase through the Bristol Innovations Zone (BIZ), a transformative space where deep-tech innovation and societal impact meet. BIZ will host SETsquared Bristol alongside other deep tech businesses, fostering collaboration between researchers, industry and entrepreneurs.

SETsquared Bristol will work closely with tenants and stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition and identify the most suitable alternatives for their needs.
